About these figures
Notes on the IEC's figures for this page
special votes 636 · 80 of 4 979 voting districts in (the IEC's voting-district results so far, out of its list of voting districts for this election)
In local elections the IEC adds votes across the ward, PR and district ballots, so we show valid votes per ballot instead of one "votes cast" total.
Turnout is calculated as PR ballots cast ÷ registered voters, from the IEC's results for the 80 voting districts with results so far here (4 679 of 12 865). The IEC publishes 41.1%.
The change beside the headline is the difference between the leading party's share here and its share in the 2021 election for the same province, both from the IEC's counts, with no votes re-allocated between boundaries.
Note: the IEC's published turnout for this province is 41.09%; its own counts give 36.37% (PR ballots cast ÷ registered voters in its voting districts); we show the calculated figure.
Percentages are calculated from the IEC's vote counts. Official results: results.elections.org.za.
Map boundaries: Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB) and the IEC.
